Listen, it’s always a busy day – be it meetings, travel, family or just about whatever life can throw at you. As it is the month of celebrating Mom – why not spend some quality time with the woman who changed your nappies and helped you take your first steps. We think all that deserves much more than flowers and chocolates!

Bend and Stretch

What: Do something new with mom… Something that will leave you both feeling fresh and rejuvenated – like yoga. It could even become a weekly bonding session. Yoga is for everyone – young, old, fit and not-so-fit. You leave feeling relaxed, happy and ready to take on the day! Expect some stiffness at first but in time that fades too.

Where: Living Yoga is one of many, but comes highly recommended by our friends who are already dedicated to what they call ‘the practice’.

Here is The Dish: Living Yoga is South Africa’s first and, at present, only Jivamukti Yoga Affiliate Studio. Jivamukti is a world-renowned method of yoga created by Sharon Gannon and David Life.

Brunch at ‘Tiffany’s’

What: Brunch never gets old – especially in a quirky setting with delicious sugary, carby things. And after a yoga class, you and mom are both bound to have worked up an appetite.

Where: Take mom on a culinary throwback venue-wise, with a mix of old favorites and brand new spots. Welcome back to Melville. While some of you were chasing queues at malls, Melville was re-inventing itself… and it got delicious!

Here is The Dish: Service Station is all about its French toast and berries! They also do a fabulous lunch buffet if you feel like eating a little later.

Pablo Eggs-Go-Bar as you guessed it – all about the eggs, all day, every day. We highly recommend the Shakshuka pan. And let’s be honest, with a section of the menu called Boozy Brunch, how wrong can you go here?

Bread and Roses have an extensive list of fresh fruit juices, great coffee, and delish food. Try the spicy egg frittata or decadent Juliette.

Melting Massage:

What: You stretched, you at… The only thing left to do is chill out!

Where: Nothing says ‘mom, chill out and relax’ like a full body massage – and again, it’s something you’ll definitely enjoy too.

Here is The Dish: We’re cutting straight to it and recommending the Saxon Spa. If you want to forget all your troubles for a solid hour or two, you’ve come to the right place. From the healing, cleansing of the Hammam and the therapeutic vibrations of the Signature Sound Therapy, to the stress-relieving Rasul Spa Ritual, the Saxon Spa’s Signature Therapies are a unique collection of the ultimate rejuvenating journeys.

Then What: There is also a hair spa, manicure bar, and pedicure lounge!
